East Coast. It's about a three hour drive from my hometown to D.C. and four to the beach.

I'm Dutch. I live close to the border of Germany. Next year I'll be moving to Utrecht because of university.

I have roots in just about every country in western Europe, but mostly German. I don't speak a word of any of the languages. Well, except for a few less than polite expressions I picked up from my classmates. I do speak semi fluent Latin and a teeny bit of Japanese. Want to take Italian when I get the chance, it's a beautiful language.

Me too.. I heard Italian isn't very difficult to learn, especially reading it is pretty easy if you can speak some Spanish or Portuguese (I don't know if it is true, just heard it)..

considering it's the closest descendant of Latin and I already read that fluently, I don't expect to have too much trouble. Certainly can't be harder, since Latin is supposedly one of the hardest languages in the world.

Any Asian language is also up there, for sure.
I did take Japanese for a while, but had to quit due to money issues.
From what I understand there's an international scale languages are rated on, from one to five, one being easiest. Almost any Asian language you can name is at least a four, most are fives. Latin and English are also fives. For reference, I believe Spanish is rated at a two, and French a three. Italian is probably also somewhere in that range, but I'd have to look it up to be sure.
